Originally from San Diego, California, USA my parents were avid travelers and instilled my sister and I with a love of travel through childhood trips across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Eight years ago I moved overseas for the first time with my daughter Molly to teach at an international school in Kobe, Japan. Living within another country and teaching students from multiple cultures was an incredible experience for my daughter and I and we were hooked on expat life.

In 2010, Molly and I, now an 11th grader, joined the SIS family where I have been teaching first grade. I have been an educator for 28 years having taught kindergarten through grade six. In addition to classroom experience, I’ve been an environmental education instructor and an elementary science curriculum consultant for several organizations including the Zoological Society of San Diego, E2: Environment and Education, and the ECOLIFE Foundation. I have a BA in education from San Diego State University, a California State teaching certificate, and a master’s degree in Curriculum Leadership from the University of Redlands in California. When I’m not at school, I enjoy cooking, reading, and exploring the beautiful areas of Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
